Lauren was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 20, 1985, at 4:34pm and weighed 6 lbs. 13 ounces. She had a full head of hair and was perfect in every way. When Lauren was 10 months old, we moved to California.
Lauren was a happy and active baby but not a sleeper. She loved to be pampered and read to. Lauren loved books so much that by 2 years old she started reading on her own. Lauren was a very fast reader and she comprehended everything that she read. She went on to continue her passion of reading throughout her life. She was very smart and artistic and truly loved to learn. Lauren was great with formulating her thoughts and knowledge and writing them down whether it was stories, poems or reports. Lauren was also very creative. She kept very busy between school and her extracurricular activities. She played softball, where she was a pretty good batter, but she didn’t like to run. Lauren also joined the girl scouts, took ballet and art and swimming lessons. She was pretty good at painting, charcoal drawings, and coloring. Lauren loved Disneyland, playing with her Barbie dolls, playing games and dress up and she loved having sleep overs (at her house only). She also loved to shop and was very fashionable. Lauren loved her birthday. Every year we would think of something special to do. Lauren loved the cookie dough ice cream cake from Baskin and Robbins even though it gave her a stomachache.

Lauren had an infectious smile and laugh that lit up a room. She was loved by many. Lauren was a good friend and was a very generous and kind person. She was always there to help her family and friends. She truly loved her family,
Lauren took ROP classes in entertainment marketing and fashion technology. She was very popular in school and made lots of friends. She was shy but still very social. Lauren graduated Beverly Hills High School in 2003. She worked various jobs in retail after graduating. Lauren followed her passion for design and fashion and decided to enroll in the “Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising” in downtown L.A. There she focused on one year in Visual Communications and then two years in Merchandise Marketing. Lauren also assisted in the backstage coordination of the yearly student fashion show, and she volunteered for the Susan B Anthony’s fashion show for the cure. She started working parttime as a sales associate for Diane Von Furstenberg’s retail store in West Hollywood while still going to school. She graduated FIDM in 2008 and received an A.A. in Merchandise Marketing. Lauren always had a good sense of style, and her makeup and wardrobe were impeccable. After Lauren graduated FIDM she continued working at Diane Von Furstenberg and started working full time. She was eventually promoted to senior sales associate and key holder. Lauren also helped DVF put together a women’s day vital voice event. She was very good with her customers and during her tenure at DVF she consistently made her sales goals. Her manager also noted that Lauren had excellent written and verbal communication skills and was extremely organized.
Lauren left DVF to pursue a job in public relations. She realized that she didn’t want to be in retail any longer. The job market was scarce due to the recession and companies were requesting prior job experience in that field. She started working for her parents who were in the mortgage business. She learned what was needed for a potential buyer to get pre-qualified and how to review one’ s credit and income. Her computer skills were amazing.

Lauren took a job in 2012 as an assistant bookkeeper at a large and well-known entertainment management firm. She worked with some high-profile clients and was responsible for managing their accounts. Lauren had wonderful computer skills where she was proficient in the following software: Data Faction, Imaging, Outlook, Word, Excel, and ADP- U.S. and International. She was a wiz on the keyboard typing approximately 95 words per minute. Lauren eventually got promoted to a bookkeeping position. Lauren was still living at home with her parents until she got married in 2014. She always made time for family and kept in touch with friends that she grew up with-she was the best friend to so many. She always loved kids and was looking forward to starting a family. This never came to be as Lauren was diagnosed with Adrenal Cortical Carcinoma in May 2016. She passed away at home on October 11, 2016. She was only 30 years old and had her whole life ahead of her.

The Lauren Dorfman Memorial Charitable Foundation has been started in her honor. May her memory and legacy last forever.

I am thankful for ten reasons.
First, I am thankful for school.
Second, I am thankful for my mom.
Third, I am thankful for my family.
Fourth, I am thankful for being alive.
Fifth, I am thankful for science.
Sixth, I am thankful for the fireman.
Seventh, I am thankful that my house was not in the fires.
Eighth, I am thankful for God.
Nineth, I am thankful for the trees.
Tenth, I am thankful for animals
Thankful I am for my family.
A wish of mine is that there is peace in the world.
Someday I hope to see Paris, France.
The world would be a better place if people were nicer.
We should all work together to make the world a better place.
My heart is filled with joy when I see people happy.
Happiness to me is seeing my mom happy.
I am grateful to have a nice family.
What I really appreciate is friends.
My family is what I greatly love.
Thanksgiving Day means love.
